This Privacy Policy explains what personal data PahariRooms ("we," "us," "the Platform") collects, why we collect it, and how we handle it. It is written to reflect what the Platform actually does, not a generic template. This Policy is intended to align with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the IT Rules, 2021, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Information collected automatically

• IP address — recorded when you submit a report on a listing, to prevent the same person from submitting duplicate reports on the same listing.

2. An Important Distinction: Your Login Phone vs. Your Public Contact Number

PahariRooms deliberately separates two things that many platforms conflate:

• Your login phone number (used to identify which listings belong to you) is never displayed publicly. It exists only so the Platform knows which listings and profile are yours, so you can edit or delete them.
• The "Contact Phone" you type into a listing is a separate field you fill in yourself when posting, and is shown publicly to anyone viewing that listing, so interested tenants/buyers can reach you. You are free to use a different number here than your login number if you prefer.

In short: logging in does not automatically make your personal number public. Only what you actively type into a listing's contact field is shown to other users.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To operate your account and let you manage (edit, mark rented/sold, delete) your own listings
• To display listings and photos to other users browsing the Platform
• To review reported content and take action, including removing listings that violate our Terms
• To respond to feedback or grievances you submit

We do not sell your personal data to third parties, and we do not use your data for advertising targeting outside the Platform.

4. Cookies

We use two cookies to keep you logged in without a password:

• user_name and user_phone — store your name and phone number in your browser so you don't have to log in again on future visits. These are set to expire after 10 years and are marked httpOnly, meaning they cannot be read by browser-side scripts, only sent to our server.

We do not currently use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.

5. Third Parties Who Process Data On Our Behalf

We use the following service providers to run the Platform. They process data strictly to provide these services to us, not for their own independent use:

• Supabase — hosts our database and stores uploaded photos.
• Render — hosts the PahariRooms application itself.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

We currently retain listing data until you delete it yourself through your profile, or until you request removal. Profile data (name, phone, city, avatar, badge) is retained as long as your account is in use.

To request deletion of your account or personal data, contact us using the details in Section 9. We do not yet offer a fully automated self-service "delete my account" option — deletion requests are currently handled manually.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information (editable directly from your Profile for most fields)
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Withdraw consent to processing, by requesting account deletion

8. Children's Privacy

PahariRooms is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from minors, though we do not currently verify age at signup. If you believe a minor has created a listing or account, please report it to us using the details below.

9. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data, but no online platform can guarantee absolute security. Our login system uses a lightweight, password-free identity model (name + phone number). Please do not rely on this as bank-grade security, and avoid sharing sensitive personal or financial information through the Platform.
